Weekend Ramblings | On Anniversaries & The Power of Beauty

3 years. That's how old our marriage is :) However, 'we began' nearly 10 years ago. I've loved this man for longer than I can remember - I can't imagine my life without the craziness we share every day. Our ridiculous squabbles, the 'look' he gets shot frequently, the sparring, the joy, the doing & being that is life. In helping my best friend plan her wedding we found this quote:

"Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Those that truly love have roots that grow towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossoms have fallen front their branches, they find that they are one tree and not two." Captain Corelli's Mandolin

I adore this quote. It's so real. There just isn't enough real these days!

I'm not an expert on marriage, and whilst I love my husband like crazy, I don't always get it right.

BUT I love our tree, and at any given time, will fight with all that's in me to protect it :) This is our tree. It's our life. It's our adventure. And I love it :)

To celebrate we paid a visit to Babylonstoren. Oh do yourself a favor peoples - go there! I cannot actually describe how beautiful it is - more than just an exquisite meal, an experience :) Such a beautiful place just soaks into the fibre of your soul and refreshes you beyond words :)

Oh, and I'd consider trading in my firstborn to shoot a wedding there if there are any takers ;)

Adore the quirkiness of all the lab ware as decor!
Starters - most delicious herby oil thing :)

They had me at the bread!

 He's my loon
I cannot tell you how delicious the food was! Seriously

Because this is what all the cool people do in fancy restaurants!

The 'would you take the picture already' face. Followed by the 'my smile has turned to stone' face. Oh I'm not easy to live with, just in case you were wondering ;)
Occasionally the man lands an impressive photo ;)

Freaking majestic is a good way to describe the garden!

 Mr Suave

I nearly stole one of these guys! Freaking adorable

We spent the afternoon traipsing the garden and horsing around with the expo disc (not sure whether I'm a fan just yet)

 Hubby loves the darned thing!

Love this simple and delicate Dear Rae ring :)

For some reason love this - simple, beautiful, natural - just like Babylonstoren :)
